St Margaret of Scotland and Mustard Seed, Edinburgh are seeking to appoint a Full-Time Priest-in-Charge (initially for 5 years)

The closing date for applicants is now passed - this page will remain available until an appointment is decided

Remuneration: Scottish Episcopal Church Clergy Standard Stipend with housing allowance

The St Margaret's and Mustard Seed congregations offer challenge and creative opportunity on Edinburgh’s Easter Road, as after seven years of co-operation they move forward in a newly linked charge. With a diversity of attenders, worship patterns and activities, the church is ideally placed to reach out to its surrounding community through faith and social justice. But renewing our shared mission and resources will demand skills of leadership and enabling.

The Bishop of Edinburgh says "This is an unusual and uniquely challenging post. Two very different congregations seeking to live out their distinctive callings whilst sharing a building. Two very different congregations who support and complement each other in their service of God and neighbour. On the one hand St Margaret’s, a longstanding congregation with much in common with other Episcopalian charges across the diocese; on the other, Mustard Seed, a new expression of Christian community inspired by the call to be a church of and with the poor.

We are seeking a priest who can honour and cherish both these expressions of church. To help each community to discern what the Holy Spirit is saying to them at this time, enabling them to work closely together whilst respecting and enjoying each other’s differences. The priest will not be working alone, for they will find many mature and creative Christian disciples ready to pray with them and to journey alongside them, sharing the burdens and blessings of leadership."
